I knew at a very young age, the kind of character you need in order to have a successful marriage. I am not sure where exactly that knowledge came from, likely the lord and my parent’s strong example. Nevertheless, I knew. However, even though I “knew” what it would take, I wasn’t sure I would ever have the right opportunity to find that character…to locate it inside me. I wasn’t sure about finding right girl, or how I would grow as a person over time.

What I know today is this: I have the character to give someone my forever. I have what it takes and it’s a choice much bigger than myself that comes with time.

People now a days, flake all the time. Hell, I am guilty of it, it just kind of happens with our busy lives. Some are consistently non-committal; others just are bad at gauging time. Either way, people break their forever’s and plans ALL the time. My Forever and the forever I want with some one is exactly that…forever. In this life and the next I will cherish you. I will cherish us, because that’s what real love is. That is my commitment to myself and to you. It’s not always just that feeling of love and it’s not always young adorable love we see in movies…the adventure and good times. I call it “Movie Love”. We are pretty basic creatures…we get old and sick over time. Our bodies lose their youth and it’s hard to do the simplest things. The forever I want will hold me when I am too weak to stand. Carry my when I am too weak to walk, and stay by my side when I need it most.

To know you are capable and deserving of adoring someone AND being adored for life is amazing. Finding it is even better…and very RARE. It’s a gift that will always give more than it takes. I will always give more than I take. It’s how I want it.

I will leave you with this. The choices we make regarding love ultimately define our hearts…. those choices shape the contexts of how we view this world and it’s many gifts. The best way to learn your heart is by breaking it a few times. No one ever said it would be easy to love & learn yourself, but then again no one can ever prepare you for the gifts it unlocks in you.
Stay open, positive and strong. Remember, this is a great life, if you don’t weaken:)
